It's a small island. You'll want to build houses, plazas and palaces, and connect them to statues and temples. All five of those things need marble, though, and there are only three quarries on the island. New ones will appear and old ones will deplete, requiring a constant change in building goals. Be sure you aren't short when it's time to build something you want! It's a connection game, ultimately, at its old-school heart.

I've covered a few Stefan Dorra board games on the channel, many of which are older and old-school. Hellas (2016 White Goblin) feels old-school (shared space, simple ruleset), but it's relatively modern, and it didn't get much attention when it first came out. Fortunately Playte is here in 2026 to introduce gamers to it anew.

In this stream, I’m joined by Cole Wehrle to take a deep dive into An Infamous Traffic, now returning in a substantially reworked Second Edition.

Originally one of Cole’s earliest designs, An Infamous Traffic examines the nineteenth-century opium trade in Qing China through a vicious economic game of commerce, collaboration, imperialism, and social ambition. We’ll discuss the history behind the game, the research that informed it, and what Cole wanted the design to say about the structures and consequences of imperial trade.

We’ll also look at how his approach has evolved over the decade since the original release, what has changed mechanically in this new edition, and what players can expect from the new production.

In Part 2 of our Resisting Reagan campaign, Joe Dewhurst and I return to The Guerrilla Generation: Cold War Insurgencies in Latin America — this time joined by the game’s designer, Stephen Rangazas.

As the campaign develops, Stephen will help us dig deeper into the historical context behind the scenarios, the political and military dynamics the game is trying to capture, and some of the design choices behind the system. Meanwhile, Joe brings the developer’s perspective, and I’ll continue doing my best not to sabotage the revolution through questionable strategic decisions.

Expect more insurgency, counterinsurgency, Cold War politics, and plenty of discussion about how the game translates the history of Latin America onto the table.

Set in a deadly futuristic facility, Omega Protocol puts 2–6 players in a tense battle between heavily armed operatives and terrifying enemies. Atlantic Chase is hailed as a modern classic by many in the wargaming sphere. It has a unique fog-of-war system without using any hidden information. It's been on Edward's 'want to play' list since it first came out and, well, it's time to dig into it.

This video is going to be something a bit different as we're not playing a game of AC. Instead, we're going to bust out a number of the Tutorial/training missions that are printed as a 'Learn to Play' booklet that comes with the game. So join Kyle & Edward as they work their way through.
