We're always excited for a new Eric Lang game, which makes him an obvious candidate for the absolutely-not-called BGB DOG - our series where we deep dive into a designer's .... designography. He's made a lot of our favourite area control games, and had his hand in some games we might not have even realized. Before we bang on about this Lang mang, we talk about What's Missing?, Polynesia, and TEN.
02:41 - What's Missing? 07:50 - Polynesia 17:47 - Ten 25:10 - PAX Unplugged 25:45 - Ghost Turkey 2021 28:45 - Eric Lang 31:30 - Mystick 32:05 - Dragon Ball Z: Majin Buu Saga 33:04 - Midgard 34:54 - Chaos in the Old World 39:58 - Quarriors! 41:48 - Dice Masters 42:20 - Blood Rage 45:47 - XCOM: The Board Game 48:13 - Duelyst 49:40 - Rising Sun 50:39 - Cthulhu: Death May Die 52:19 - Ankh: Gods of Egypt 54:32 - Marvel United

Malachi Ray Rempen, designer of Roll Camera, discusses the pros and cons of doing all the main aspects of design, art, and publishing yourself.
Malachi has both worked with others and done everything himself, so he can speak well on both perspectives.
The post The Pros and Cons of Doing Everything Yourself with Malachi Ray Rempen appeared first on Board Game Design Lab.
In today's episode, Suzanne and Mandi discuss Durian Dash, Tucano, Shadows of the Obelisk, Paper Dungeons, and Welcome to The Moon. And there's a super sized Spiel Anticipation Game Pie to wrap up the episode.
Support for The Dice Tower comes from TheOp.games and GameNerdz.com
Episode 146: Special Guest: David Turczi! PluSearch For Planet X, Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Castell
On this episode Steve, Sarah and Mitch are joined by the one and only David Tuczi. David talks about the origins of the upcoming Voidfall, how he approaches designing solo mode for other people's games, his friendships in the industry, and some of his most proudest achievements in game design so far (and if you thought Adrian can talk, wait until you hear David!) It's a fascinating interview, with insights into all kinds of games, and one you don't want to miss.
In our Sizzling Games segment Sarah has been using her deductive powers in her Search For Planet X, Mitch has been assuming the role of Dungeon Master in our very own Dungeons & Dragons Adventure, and Steve has been stacking humans in Castell.
In the Bracket Battle 2.0 poor David has his loyalties divided as we announce the winner of Kanban EV vs Anachrony. Then we set-up the next Bracket Battle - Eclipse: Second Dawn For The Galaxy vs Dice Throne. To make sure your favourite goes through to the next round make sure you place your vote on our socials.
Finally, in Swear An Oath Steve has cleaned the decks and completed both of his oaths: Dinosaur World and the scenarios in Smartphone Inc, Mitch completed two cases of Chronicles of Crime: 2400 with Dan, and Sarah has continues on her miniature painting journey. New oaths this week are Alice is Missing (Steve), Fantastic Factories (Mitch), and Arkwright: The Card Game (Sarah). And David even jumps in on the Oath action by prominsing to play Gran Austria Hotel, Great Wall and Bitoku by the time he comes back on the show! (We are going to hold you to that, David!!)

In this chaotic 158th episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down podcast, Ava, Tom and Quinns are slamming bugs into walls! We’re talking about the expansive box-ticker Hadrian’s Wall alongside the entomologically-inclined wrasslin’ of Kabuto Sumo! We also have some brief chats about our recent video reviews of Descent: Legends of the Dark and Burgle Bros 2: The Casino Capers - two be-coloned sequels of varying quality!
Apologies for some slight background noise at times in this one - all three of us had various drilling going on nearby that was hard to weasel out properly! And, as Quinns mentions at the end of this one, there won’t be a podcast for the next couple of weeks while we focus on getting prepped for AwSHUX. See you toward the end of October for a live special!
Have a lovely weekend, folks!
Episode 145: Architects of the West Kingdom, Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition, Dinosaur Island Rawr'n'Write, Whistle Mountain
Surprise! Have you ever played a game that pleasantly surprised you? On this episode Steve, Def and Mike discuss games that they like but don't necessarily fit their normal game style. Do you have any games in your collection that stand out from the rest?
In our Sizzling Games segment Def has revisited Architects of the West Kingdom with four and five players and has even been exploring the asymmetric player powers. Mike has two games to Sizzle: Dinosaur Island Rawr'n'Write, and Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition and is in love with both. Steve finally got Whistle Mountain to his gaming group and loved the "Tetris on top of each other" fun.
In the Bracket Battle 2.0 we check in on the current battle: Anachrony vs Kanban EV. We then dip into the mail bag for The Roast. Steve shares his "enlist or die" strategy when playing the Crimean faction in Scythe, Mike tells us about his longest ever game of Zombiecide, and Def counts on one hand the games he can beat his wife in. We also discuss our favourite meats to BBQ, hardest games to learn, and game mechanics we could do without.
Finally, in Swear An Oath Steve swear to play the Campaign Mode for Smart Phone Inc , Def swears to play a few more planets in Unsetlled, and Mike swears to graduate from the roll'n'write and play Dinosaur World.
Sizzling Games: Architects of the West Kingdom (02:40), Dinosaur Island Rawr'n'Write (14:32), Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition (18:35), Whistle Mountain (20:24)
Topic of the Pod: Games That We Didn't Expect To Like (42:15)
