Episode 238: Descent Legends of the Dark and Does Size Matter

01. September 2021 um 07:55
Oh Yeah! Tony and Chris are back in action in episode 238 of The Secret Cabal! Today we start off by hearing a little about Tony's journey across the country and then dive into the games we've been playing over the past 2 weeks including The Shores of Tripoli, Vanuatu, Dark Domains, Meadow, Karuba, Steve's mobile escape rooms experience, and Coyote. Then Don and Jamie dive into an in-depth review of Descent Legends of the Dark from Fantasy Flight Games. Tony T takes back the reigns of the news segment and gives us a tour of all the stuff going on around the industry. Then finally the gang discusses whether size matters in board gaming - box size, card size, table presence, etc. Descent Legends of the Dark Overview 01:04:57, Descent Legends of the Dark Review 01:09:34, News with Tony T S 01:47:47, Does Size Matter 02:38:35

#182: Soldiers in Postmen's Uniforms

Von: Pickaxe
31. August 2021 um 12:00
Cultural gaps can be quite tragic, to say nothing of socially debilitating. Mark discovers to his horror that Walker is unfamiliar both with a key game and a crucial character in film history. Thank goodness that this faux pas does not sully Masterpiece Theatre, as that would bring shame to both the Warrior of the Wasteland and Vin Diesel.

Sometimes, if you want a game bad enough, you're willing to go to absurd lengths to acquire it. Whether it's because it's out of print, or just hard to come by, we've all put more effort than we should've into finding or playing specific games. We tell our stories of just how far we've gone. Before we secure the bag, we talk about Tinner's Trail, and The Night Cage.

How to Design Trick Taking Games with Fertessa Allyse

25. August 2021 um 13:16

Fertessa Allyse, producer at Funko Games, talks about how to design a trick taking game.

We talk about table talk, bringing new ideas to the genre, what to look for while playtesting, and more.

And be sure to check out Fertessa’s trick taking game, Wicked and Wise, on Kickstarter HERE.

*Also, at one point, I mention UNO as a trick taking game, however, it’s definitely a matching game. (duh, haha)

#181: Bluffing

Von: Pickaxe
24. August 2021 um 12:00
I used to tell a joke about Heimdall, but it was pretty horny. I used to tell a joke about Osiris, but it fell to pieces. I used to tell a joke about Venus, but it was masturbatory. I used to tell a joke about Sleipnir, but it didn't have legs. I used to tell a joke about Prometheus, but it needed a spark. I used to tell a joke about Draupnir, but it just didn't ever end. I used to tell a joke about Marathon, but it was a bit of a long walk. I used to tell a joke about the Hecatoncheires, but it was punching down. I used to tell a joke about Tyr, but it wasn't even-handed. I used to tell a joke about Ragnarok, but everyone knew the end already. I used to tell a joke about Jormungand, but it was very toxic. I used to tell a joke about Pandora, but it was too out of the box. I used to tell a joke about Cerberus, but it was just gatekeeping. I used to tell a joke about Yggdrasil, but I had to leaf. I used to tell a joke about the labyrinth's inhabitant, but it was bull. I used to tell a joke about the sword of Damocles, but it was over my head. I used to tell a joke about Procrustes, but I kept getting cut off. I used to tell a joke about Sisyphus, but I got tired of the repetition. I used to tell a joke about Penelope's crafting, but it was just an excuse to kill time. I used to tell a joke about the Golden Apple, but it caused too many arguments. I used to tell a joke about Gordian succession, but it was a tangled mess. I used to tell a joke about Minerva's bird, but I can't remember owl of it.
