Put on your thick socks, wrap yourself in a blanket, and get comfortable with us in front of the fire. We're using our patent pending formula (aka BGBBOB) to find the best heart warming comfort games. Twelve board games enter, and ... twelve leave, but arranged in the scientifically correct order. Before we get comfortable, we talk about The Castles of Tuscany, Cooper Island, and SCOUT!
02:41 - The Castles of Tuscany 12:32 - Cooper Island 20:02 - SCOUT! 31:02 - Dominion 32:12 - Lost Cities 36:16 - Patchwork 36:42 - Telestrations 38:50 - Wizard 40:06 - The Game 43:09 - Coloretto 44:05 - San Juan 45:43 - Scrabble 47:52 - Sushi Go! 52:25 - Biblios 55:11 - Splendor
Mandi joins us as we review Unmatched Cobble and Fog, In a Flash Firefighters, Coatl, Strike, Cubitos, and Dune: Imperium. We then answer a few questions, and finally end with our top ten games that start with the letter "U".

In episode 44, Jamie starts out by talking a little bit about Baldur's Gate 3 now in early access on Steam and the gang reminisces about some old Dungeons and Dragons video games they've played in the past. Then the Lords take a question from a listener regarding dealing with a player character that is lovingly known as "Cheat Code" because he is so overpowered. Then the group gives into a discussion about playing Rogues in roleplaying games and the various archetypes they enjoy playing.
We have an unwritten constitution here at SVWAG, which we know causes some people from jurisdictions with written constitutions to get a little mystified and/or twitchy. Trust us, it works! We get to claim a rich constitutional history all the way back to 1215 and the Magna Carta, or at least we will, once we figure out what King John had to do with podcasting. It's the kind of arrangement that works until you have a constitutional crisis, which we have about as often as those places with written constitutions; except we tend to settle ours with sidelong glances and lots of utterances along the lines of, "So... how do you, uh... think this works?"

Episode 49 - Special Guest: Stephen Buonocore, Pandemic Legacy Season 1, The Quacks of Quedlinburg, Imperial Settlers: Rise of the Empire, Architects of the West Kingdom
In what could possibly be Conor's last episode when Sarah hears it, the team is joined by the recently-retired president of Stronghold Games Stephen Buonocore. It's undeniably one of our best episodes as he shares with us what he's been up to in retirement, the process of publishing games, what he's been playing lately, and his involvement in the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund.
In our Sizzling Games segment, Mike is the next team member to wade into Pandemic Legacy Season 1 and is loving the journey so far. Stephen has been stirring the pot in The Quacks of Quedlinburg, Conor has been building his empire in Imperial Settlers: Rise of the Empire, and Steve is continually impressed by Architects of the West Kingdom.
In the Board Game Bracket we announce the winner from the recent Gaia Project vs Too Many Bones battle. And then, in a Board Game Bracket first, Conor defends Root against the publisher of Terraforming Mars. The gloves come off on this battle, as they both go for a TKO.
Finally in Swear an Oath, Steve got Isle of Cats to the table with his sons, and swears to play Barrage. After playing Rise of Empires, Conor swears to play Paladins of the West Kingdom. Mike failed to fulfill his Big Easy Busking oath, so he dutifully doubles-down with Imaginarium, and stuns everyone with a hidden talent. But, to show us all up, Stephen swears an oath to play the mammoth game - Twilight Imperium 4th Edition.
Thanks again to Stephen Buonocore for joining us on this episode. Follow along with Stephen's adventures on his social channels:

It’s podcast time, and you’re all invited! Does our generosity know no bounds? In this ghoulishly 121st episode of the Shut Up and Sit Down podcast, Quinns, Ava and Tom once again settle into the lavishly upholstered podchairs to scream words about boardgames into a wall.
NEW YORK ZOO (04:02)! MARIA (19:38)! LITTLE TOWN (40:06)! THE KING IS DEAD (55:41)! These are all words bellowed in an order that one would assume makes them titles for games - and we will run with that assumption to save everyone the embarrassment. We promise they are real and we didn’t just madlibs this podcast’s games into existence. We’re not on that level just yet.
At least in some things, you've got to give a little to get a little, but what would you give to get what you want? We're coming up with our big board game compromises, the things we'd happily trade away to fix some of our biggest frustrations. Before we deal with the devil, we talk about Lost Ruins of Arnak, Ohanami, and Beyond the Sun.
01:49 - Lost Ruins of Arnak 02:39 - Dune: Imperium 13:47 - Ohanami 13:47 - The Game 21:53 - Beyond the Sun 22:42 - Innovation 27:52 - Through the Ages 38:38 - Board Game Compromises 39:22 - Cthulhu Wars (aka Squares vs. Circles vs. Triangles) 42:49 - Kemet 46:14 - A Feast for Odin 48:14 - Brass: Lancashire 48:14 - Brass: Birmingham 48:47 - Nemesis 49:20 - Biblios
Sizzling Games: Marquis (01:55), Root (09:35), Smartphone Inc. (21:38)
Topic of the Week: Next Step Games (29:40)
Board Game Bracket (53:24)
