Then, we talk about deduction games and social deduction games, and what makes a game social deduction. Note: I mistakenly said Terrorscape 2 is on Kickstarter but it's actually on Gamefound.

Episode 329: Luthier and The Complexity Issue

17. September 2025 um 07:50
Welcome back, Cabalists, to another jam-packed episode of The Cabal! After that, Don and Jamie feature Luthier from Paverson Games. Then Tony T reclaims the reins from Stevie S and brings you one hell of a news segment. And finally, the Founders dig into the big topic of the past few episodes - increasing complexity - are games becoming too complex and where should the line be drawn? Star Wars: Battle of Hoth

Von: Pickaxe
16. September 2025 um 12:00

We tempt fate and refer to a number of third rails in the hobby community. For one, we acknowledge a loss in Regicide Legacy, which reliably summons the chattering mobs. Further, we mention both Star Trek and Star Wars, so undoubtedly we get a detail "wrong" that will "justify" a detailed response.

Look, we're experts here. We completed the Kobayashi Maru in under 12 parsecs. We're regular callers to Car Talk with Martok. Don't test us.

Bonus Episode 26: Play for Fun or Play to Win?

In this bonus episode of BPPP, hosts Christina, and Kevin sit down with David Waybright from Man vs Meeple and dig into the age-old question: Do you play for fun, or do you play to win? Along the way, they share personal stories from game nights gone sideways (or spectacularly right), explore how competition shifts group dynamics, and debate whether fun and winning are really at odds—or if they might actually go hand in hand.

#282 - Two Player Town (Population Two)

11. September 2025 um 12:10

This week on the Shut Up & Sit Down podcast, we’re talking two players! Tag Team is a head-to-head brawler, and Suna Valo is exactly the same, but for farms! Finally, Matt waxes lyrical about General Orders’ Samurai Sequel: ‘Sengoku Jidai’ - and, within it, has perhaps found a game that’s too small for even our perma-shrunk noggins.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hearken, ye Cabalists! Gather round, for this day the Lords convene in discourse. They speak first of Jamie and AC’s newest chronicle of dread and mystery, wrought in the Call of Cthulhu. Thereafter, a query from a faithful listener shall be pondered, touching upon the use of relics and tokens within the gaming hall. Lastly, the Roundtable shall be set, where wisdom is shared on the keeping of momentum and the weariness that oft befalls the Game Master. Raise thy voices in mirth! Huzzah!

Yokohama Duel is a two-player strategy game set in Meiji-era Japan, where players compete as merchants navigating trade routes and foreign relations. It condenses the original Yokohama into a tighter format, emphasizing tactical movement, resource collection, and contract fulfillment. With modular setup and multiple scoring paths, it offers deep replayability in a compact package that many still trying to find the best way to victory.

Rival Cities pits two players against each other in a historical rivalry between Hamburg and Altona. Through lawsuits, trade, and political maneuvering, players vie for dominance in a tug-of-war of influence and prestige. The game can be quick playing and therefore making each decision impactful and every turn a strategic duel.

Up or Down is a fast-paced card game focused on building ascending or descending sequences, ideal for quick, engaging play. Meanwhile, Twinkle Twinkle offers a peaceful tile-laying experience where players draft transparent tiles to complete star charts and connect constellations. Both games are accessible yet clever, appealing to casual and puzzle-loving players alike.
