Legacy Episodes - Boats Boats Robin Oats

17. September 2021 um 16:17
Toot toot, the No Pun Included boat has docked, ready to unload three stormy board games into your harbour. Are these board games fresh as the fruit of the sea, or do they perhaps smell a bit fishy? Quick, someone take away the analogies from me because I’ll starting waxing on about how we spill the board game guts. Oh no. It’s too late - the board game guts - they are everywhere. #155 - We Built Witch City

17. September 2021 um 14:45

In this constructively 155th episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down podcast, Quinns and Tom are absolutely going to build you two cities and then bury you in witches. Today we’re talking about Magnate: The First City and North Berkeley, two very different takes on the property market with at least some political undercurrents, and we’ve got Witchstone, which switches to witches. Plus a little bonus micro-chat about Tom’s recent review of The Adventures of Robin Hood.

Have a lovely weekend, folks!

Episode 139: Monique and Naveen from Before You Play! Plus Scythe, Calimala, Tinner‘s Trail, Goa

17. September 2021 um 01:55

Join Dan, Sarah and Jules on this episode as they are visited by the fabulous Monique and Naveen from Before You Play. We chat to them about their journey from Instagram to YouTube, some of their favourite designers and themes, and how they approach creating content.

In our Sizzling Games segment Sarah has been using the modular boards to play Scythe with two players, Monique has been trading cloth in Calimala, Jules has been mining for minerals in Tinner's Trail, and finally Naveen has been investing in spices in Goa.

We check in on the Bracket Battle 2.0 and also answer some of your questions in The Roast.

Finally, in Swear An Oath Sarah has completed the campaign in My City, and also taught Def how to play War Chest. So for fear of idle hands Sarah then swears a new oath to complete her campaign of The Initiative. Dan is on the precipice of starting The Dunwich Legacy, but also doubles down and swears to play the Nightfall expansion to PARKS. Jules is determined to complete Planet 6 in Unsettled, but also plans to spend some time doing some painting over the next week. (Why not join him in our Print&Paint channel on our Discord!)

#191: Take Off Every Zig

16. September 2021 um 11:34

While one of the appeals of following a specific game designer is the comforting familiarity of what they do best, it's also really fun to see them go off the garden path. We're looking at games and mechanics where one of our beloved designers zigged, when they easily could've zagged. Before we go our own way, we talk about Biosphere, The Ratcatcher: The Solo Adventure Game, and Stephenson's Rocket.
