#179: Trenchcoat Games

Von: Pickaxe
10. August 2021 um 12:00
The crushing burden of Masterpiece Theatre is having a toll. I had an attitude problem, but then I took a timeout, and I thought about what I did. The success of the Fast and/or Furious movies is undeniable--business-wise, this all seems like appropriate business--but at what cost? I went to the stock market today. I did a business. SVWAG is most emphatically not children stacked together wearing a trenchcoat. Would you like a alcohol?

238: African Board Gaming Conference KS Project - Go Back It!

06. August 2021 um 15:30
The African Board Gaming Convention is a pan-African event that brings many people together from all over Africa and beyond to play games, celebrate games, and spread the word about a growing, local gaming scene. Oluwafemi Olusanya (or Femi) joins the show to share his boundless enthusiasm for sharing games and spreading the word about this fifth installment of AB Con. At the time of recording, they were working on a stretch goal to get Eric Lang to make an appearance and help out local designers. If we are truly into the work of diversity and inclusion in our games, this is it! Femi's doing the work, so I am happy to support and lift his voice for everyone listening and watching. #150 - A Space, A Siege, A Christmas Surprise!

06. August 2021 um 13:59

In this wobbly 150th episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down podcast, a freshly-jabbed Tom and perfectly off-kilter Matt are ready to tell YOU about SOME GAMES!

Matt regales us with the story of him crushing my space station in Star Scrappers:Orbital! We pretend to know all about wargames with Freedom! Tom rambles about his UKGE adventures in a smushed up-special!

And before you listen to this most excellent podcast, dear listener; a fun tidbit. We were going to do a big chunky roundup of all the exciting things Tom saw at UKGE, but so much of it was sufficiently interesting or strange that we’re going to save it for future, more in-depth coverage. Stay tuned for some opinions, and some hot, hot games!

Earthborne Rangers is the debut expandable card game from Earthborne Games, a 1-4 player cooperative adventure in a futuristic, naturalistic sci-fi setting. Project lead Andrew Navarro and designer Andrew Fisher join the show to answer some tough questions about the project - How does the game actually play? Where are the gameplay videos? What do you mean by "no winning or losing?" How does it relate to other LCG? Big shout out to the One Stop Coop Shop community on Discord for helping craft good questions. #178: Tribune

Von: Pickaxe
03. August 2021 um 12:00
NB: "Language independent" can be a loaded term, and we confess we used it a tad sloppily in our discussion of Tribune. Latin is used throughout the game, and ain't nobody speaks Latin as their first language anymore, but nonetheless in hindsight we could have been more sensitive to those more familiar with non-Latin alphabets. Thus, we should say that the original Primus Inter Pares expansion and the new Spielworxx Tribune are language-independent but not alphabet-independent. I dare any game with an appropriate time period as a theme try to get away with cuneiform.
