In honour of Arkhipov Day (October 27th--he saved your life or that of your forebears, he deserves a day), we turn to reflections of how games model war. Even themeless euros often include war as a convenient backdrop for the processing of cubes, so it is hardly restricted to one genre of gaming or another. That said, gaming is not unique--pretty much any medium can boast of a plethora of war narratives.

Episode 43 - Spot it!, Teotihuacan, Pandemic Legacy Season 2
They say never work with kids or animals. Well, we put that to the test on this episode as we hand the show over to our kids to tell us about their favourite games.
In Sizzling Games, Dan has been trying to work out the maths behind Spot It!, Steve has been building a tribute to the Gods in Teotihuacan, and Adrian can't tell us anything about Pandemic Legacy Season 2.
Our Topic of the Week is kids games for 5-9yr olds. First, we enlist Finn, Jack and Rafael to talk about their favourite games, but manage to wrestle control of the show before things get out of hand. Then we settle in to discuss some of the best kids games out there on the market, what to look for in a kid's game, and how to find the right game for your kids.
In Round 2 of the Boardgame Bracket we settle the winner from the 5 Minute Dungeon vs Spirit Island match-up before Mitch pops in to defend Too Many Bones against Adrian's It's A Wonderful World.
Finally, in Swear An Oath Dan and Adrian let down the side (again) by leaving Blackout: Hong Kong and Nemo's War unfulfilled. They did, however, complete Quacks of Quedlinburg and Welcome To, and Steve fulfilled Architects of the West Kingdom and 7 Wonders Duel. And new oaths are committed with Pendulum (Adrian), Towers of Arkhanos (Dan), and Trismagistus (Adrian)

It's an awful notion, but bear with me. What if you lost your entire board game collection, and had to rebuild it from scratch? Here's the catch, you only have one hundred dollars. We try to predict what the Red Tank would do, before he talks us through what makes the cut, and why. Before we rebuild, we talk about 5211, Marco Polo II: In the Service of the Khan, and Cóatl.

In episode 43, we start out talking to Jess about taking over their Dungeons and Dragons Ravenloft campaign and what a Cameltaur is. Then we discuss our first training session using the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th edition game system. And finally, the gang discusses randomness in role playing games and how to handle it when bad luck gets out of hand.
In this show, we review Gudetama, 5er Finden, Box of Rocks, Beyond the Sun, and Etherfields! Geoff talks about flavors of cheating, and Tom and Eric answer questions on counterfeit games, going back in time, and teaching kids to teach! Finally, we end the show going over our top ten games that start with the letter "T"!
I never knew a kid who had any kind of fort. In grade school I heard of a kid who could form Voltron, but that may have been an extravagant lie. My mom's friend's kids had a Sega Genesis, and that was pretty rad. I keep acquiring more games in the vain hope that it will make me popular, but it hasn't worked yet. Maybe one or two more Street Masters expansions will do the trick. I am told to be popular you have to wash your hair at least once every two weeks.
