Blessed are the forgetful, because they don't have to play memory games? After all, games with a strong memory component often get a bad rap in the hobby. We look at some of the reasons why very few games want to test your memory, and just to be otherwise, we discuss some of our favourite games that do. Before we walk our mind palaces, we talk about Fort, Under Falling Skies, and Tellstones: King's Gambit.

Suzanne joins us as we review Ohanami, Marvel United, Hierarchy, Micro City, Finished!, and Inhuman Conditions. Geoff talks about Markov Chains, we talk about dessert and games, skirmish games, and other questions. And finally, we end the show talking about games that defy "Vasel's Law" which states 'Every great game will eventually be reprinted'.
Social standards of behaviour are often subtle and variable, but we can all agree that children are often blind to their subtle nuances. Like, don't be a massive jerk--that's one of those tricky nuances that often escape the notice of your average child, what with many of them being borderline sociopaths kept in check only by their relative powerlessness and incompetence. Then again, perhaps Mark is the sociopath for not being able to tolerate the annoyances of child behaviour. Then again, perhaps both are true, and Mark is merely a giant, sociopathic man-baby. All that said, no human deserves to be subjected to Monopoly.

Episode 37 - Special Guest: Vital Lacerda, plus Bonfire, The Cost, Barrage, Detective Season One, Root, Ride The Rails
In this episode we welcome the man, the myth, the legend - Vital Lacerda. Vital, of course, is the award-winning designer of heavy games such as Vihnos, The Gallerist, Escape Plan, and this year's hit release On Mars. He kindly gives us an insight into his game design, news on his next game Weather Machine, how he came to create a game with his daughter, and why he generally creates heavier games than other designers. And he even hangs around for our Sizzling Games segment!
Vital impresses everyone with his two Sizzling Games: Bonfire (an ethereal games about guardians of light trying to brighten a dark planet), and The Cost (an economy management game involving health and safety and of all things... asbestos). Adrian was blown away recently by Barrage, Sarah has been sleuthing in Detective: Season One, Def is finding the AI in Root to be Root-hless (see what I did there?), and Steve was driving his passengers mad in Ride The Rails.
In Boardgame Bracket news, we settle the Zombicide vs Scythe battle in our most-voted-for match-up to date. Then it's Def vs Adrian in our next battle: Gaia Project vs Arkham Horror 3rd Edition. Make sure your favourite goes through to the next round by visiting our socials and casting your important vote.
Lastly in everyone's favourite segment, Swear An Oath, Sarah stands tall amongst the rest of the team who all failed their oaths. Sarah cleared Rome&Roll off her shelf of shame and swears a new oath to play Medici: The Dice Game. Meanwhile the team double-down on their oaths by swearing to play Mottainai (Adrian) and Architects of the West Kingdom (Def).
Sizzling Games: Bonfire / The Cost (47:15), Barrage (52:27), Detective: Season 1 (1:00:10), Root (1:06:18), Ride The Rails (1:11:42)

In this venomously 119th episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast Ava, Quinns and Tom gather around the podfire to burn every game they own in a ritual that can be traced hundreds of years into the past. It’s to keep it at bay.
We often build up the idea of what a game will be before we play it, whether for bad or good, and the reality of the game itself might deliver something we weren't expecting. We take a look at what often leads to our expectations being shattered, and mention some of the games that most defied them. Before we expect the unexpected, we talk about SHŌBU, Pan Am, and Planet Unknown.
