For Sarah, it's all about strategy in the bag-building area control game War Chest.
For Dan, it's all about character in the story-driven game Call To Adventure.
For Steve, it's all about... his Uncle Bob? And lots of laughs!!
Our Sizzling Games this week are all very different, and all great fun!
How do you curate your collection? Do you have a 1-in-1-out policy like Steve? Do you hang onto games for when your kids are older? Do you buy games with a particular person in mind? All of these ideas and more are explored in our topic of the Week as the team chat about how they have come to amass their current collections, and provide advice to those listeners that are looking to build up a solid collection from scratch.
We have all been bitten by the Kickstarterbug again! Steve has backed Rallyman: Dirt and also Dead Reckoning. Sarah recaps our recent BGBBQ game of Blood on the Clocktower which she also helped kickstart last year, and Dan has put himself down for Catapult Kingdoms.
In our Boardgame Bracket we pit Azul against Aeon's End Legacy - two very different games with solid fanbases behind them. We also reveal the winners of our past two match-ups, Mage Knight vs A Feast for Odin, and Brass: Birmingham vs Incan Gold. Make sure you hit up our social and vote for your favourite to ensure they progress to the next round.
In Swear An Oath Steve, the AEG fan-boy, swears to play Ecos: First Continent, adding it to his yet-to-be-played Forgotten Waters.
Dan finally fulfilled Terraforming Mars but failed to put the paints down long enough to actually play Stuffed Fables. He then adds the co-op trick-taker Fox In The Forest Duet. Sarah had a blast playing Starfighter and vows to bring Obscurio to the table. (Beware of the traitor, Sarah!) And a special shout-out to friend of the show, Katia Howatson, who fulfilled her oath by playing Sorcerer.

It's award season when we say it is, so we're looking back at the Golden Geek Awards, The Dice Tower Awards, and the Spiel des Jahres nominees. We offer our thoughts on their picks, and how wrong they are. I mean, Wingspan winning "Best Four-Wheel Drive SUV" just seems a bit much. We also talk about Battlestar Galactica, Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small, Paladins of the West Kingdom, and The Boss.

In episode 40, Bender starts out by talking about a new RPG he played called Blades in the Dark and the gang discusses campaigns in which all players play the same class. Then the Lords chat about the new edition of Warhammer 40,000. Aaron talks about his first time taking over as Game Master for our Star Trek Adventures campaign. Then finally the group discusses theater of the mind, setting the scene, and integrating more description in their games.
Nick is host... so yeah this episode is weird but you'll learn a thing or two.
This Game is Broken is a comedy board game panel show with Matthew Jude, Dave Luza, Paula Deming, Nick Murphy and Mike Murphy. We play a lot of nonsense games full of role playing and trivia as well as other fun stuff which can be found at the links below.

"From the discovery of New France to the 1981 Referendum, all of Quebec history is based on a single fallacy: that the British actually wanted to own Quebec. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. The British already had a surplus of colonies in the sunny Caribbean and took little interest in the Canadian icebox later dismissed by Voltaire as nothing more than 'quelques arpents de neige'... In 1759, with war raging everywhere between France and England, the British knew if would look suspicious if they didn't engage the French in North America. They placed the expedition in the hands of a thirty-two-year-old, inexperienced general, James Wolfe, and gave him strict orders: 'Put up a good fight... but lose.' Wolfe devised a clever theatrical strategy. He would choose an impossible attack-route: Arriving by boat on the St. Lawrence river then scaling the unassailable walls of the fortress of Quebec, thus guaranteeing defeat and dumping Quebec with France for good. But Wolfe's glorious defeat was snapped from the jaws of victory by Montcalm who brilliantly out-manoeuvred Wolfe and surrendered--a stroke of genius that got the colony off France's hands once and for all." -Nick Auf der Mar, "La Petite Histoire du Québec (Version Anglaise)"

Tonight Steve, Mike and Adrian catch up at the BBQ and bring some Sizzling Games along with them. Mike had a blast playing the deck-builder Clank! and is already hankering for the expansions. Steve finally brings the feathered fun of Wingspan to the podcast, and life's a rollercoaster for Adrian with Unfair.
In this week's Topic of the Week the team shares the favourite games of their partners and the stories behind them. The guys quizzed their partners about their favourite games and which games they enjoyed playing with each other, and there were some surprising answers for the team. What games do you enjoy playing with your partner? Drop us an email or jump on the discord to let us know.
The Board Game Bracket served up a big surprise this week (even Mike was surprised), and we still have a few days left for Brass: Birmingham vs Incan Gold. Meanwhile, in Maximum Apocalypse vs Dice Throne, Adrian and Steve go head to head. Adrian explains why the cooperative roguelike adventure of Maximum Apocalypse should de-throne Steve, and Steve returns serve with the accessibility and balance of Battle Yahtzee... errr..sorry, I mean Dice Throne.
Lastly, in the spirit of our Topic of The Week, all three guys being forced to honour new oaths chosen by their significant others. After carefully making his way Through The Ages, Mike's partner wants him to be the King Of Toyko next. Fresh from Exploding Kittens, Adrian agress to take the plunge into Deep Madness. And after rolling out every excuse in the book, Steve settles for the cooperative clues of Codenames Duet.

Today's guest is one of the most important people in the world of gaming, the founder of Board Game Geek, Scott Alden. We talk about the founding of BGG, the vagaries of working in the video game world and what community means...but which games did he choose? Support the show here. Tigris and Euphrates Arkham Horror Gloomhaven Cities and Knights Time's Up
In this positively 113th episode of the Shut Up and Sit Down podcast, Tom and Quinns have a totally normal conversation between two dudes in their houses with NEARLY all of their clothes on their respective bodies.
Contained therein are discussions of everything from Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion to Team3, as well as a double-bill of SPOOKY MONSTER GAMES in Hako Onna and Anomaly. We also take a little amble through solo-RPG land, returning to the wonderful (horrible) world of Thousand Year Old Vampire, and a discussion about Artefact - a game where you can finally be what you’ve always dreamed; a clarinet.
This one was a pleasure to record - forgive the rather long running time on this one, we were just having too much fun.
In this episode we welcome Katia Howatson from Board Game Art Creations to the show. In our Kickstarter segment, Katia tells us how she came to create her amazing boardgame-inspired artwork that is currently on Kickstarter, how she got some of the industry's biggest publishers on board, and the challenge of using boardgame components to make the incredible mosaics. Her project was funded in only 48hrs, so it's all systems go! The campaign ends on July 15th so make sure you follow the link to secure one of these amazing calendars for yourself.
In our Sizzling Games segment, Sarah hits the ground running with her review of Aeon's End Legacy and Katia tells us about the map-making goblin-madness of Cartographers. Mitch finds that Too Many Bones is still never enough, and Steve shares his adventures in the table-sprawling Heroes of Air, Land and Sea.
Our Topic of the Week is Solo Games! Are you a solo gamer? Has the isolation of COVID19 restrictions turned you into a solo gamer? We explore the merits, and of course the fun, of solo gaming in the modern era. The team offer up some of their favourite solo games, as well as some great entry-level games if you are solo-curious.
In the Board Game Bracket we reveal the winners of the recent showdown: Lords of Waterdeep vs War of Whispers. Then Sarah and Mitch breakdown the next big battle: Mage Knight vs A Feast For Odin. Or, as they describe it; "getting a headache" vs "collecting junk". Make sure you hit up our socials to make sure your favourite gets through to the next round.
Finally in Swear an Oath, Steve clears the decks by fulfilling his oaths to play both Tiny Towns and K2. He then vows to bring the Plaid Hat game Forgotten Waters to the table this weekend. Sarah swears to blow the dust off Starfighter and finally get it to the table, while Mitch played Dreamscape to honour his oath before pledging to visit feudal Japan in Crossroads of Heroes. And Katia joins in the oath swearing by promising to play Sorcerer by White Wizard Games.
