Every year I look forward to Essen, both for the games that are being released, and at the analysis of the hits & misses from current & previous years. This time I tried to do the same thing, but was simply overwhelmed by the volume of information. It doesn't eliminate my interest & excitement for Essen, but it takes on a different character. Which is what's it's done a time or two already due to changes in the hobby (both "press coverage" and games published).
In this show, Brian takes a look back at Atmosfear, Eric and I are scared by yet another horror story, and Geoff talks about negative vs. positive rewards. We talk about what when we get a rules wrong, and review several new games, including Suburbia. Tom debates with Doug Garrett about the importance of Essen, and we also introduce the Dice Tower Secret Santa 2012!!!
In this show, we talk about Gauntlet of Fools, Tooth and Nail, Sator Arepo Tenent Opera Rotas (whew!), Tempus, and dealing with a sore loser. We are subjugated to another Tale of Horror and answer questions about body odor at conventions and designers working with multiple publishers. Finally, we end the show with our top ten puzzle games!
In this show, Steve Avery takes a look at Dungeon Fighter and Scurvy Pirates, while Brian examines Three Dragon Ante. Tom continues his ranting, and we also review several games, such as Alien Frontiers: Factions, Level 7 Escape, and Kingdom Builder Nomads. And what's up with Eric's gaming group? Finally, we end the show with a look at how our gaming tastes have changed over the years.
